Supermega Awesomeness

I too received this TV as a replacement for my Samsung DLP which had a couple of boards go out. The fact that Samsung replaced it with this beautiful work of art says something. First, the touch of red is hardly noticeable. It's very easy to set up, turn it on and it asks if you are in a showroom or home and a couple of other questions(can't remember, took about 30 seconds) Ran the THX optimizer found on lucasfilm DVD's(star wars and such) and the only had to change the green level 2 notch's. The default settings are spot on but yet it offers at least 20 other advanced settings that any videophile will love.(way over my head and I'm technically literate) The picture with a standard dvd player is fantastic, I'm pretty sure the tv does some up converting but I could be making that up, no artifacts, or ghosting. The black levels are very, very, nice and solid. I use hulu(hdmi from the computer) and netflix on demand through an xbox (no cable or sat) and the picture couldn't be better. My only 1080p source is the xbox 360 and it works just as well as everything else, 6ms for gaming isn't slow, I'm not dying any more than usual (COD4,WAW)in fact I might be doing a little better. Now that my field of view is half of the battlefield 46inches @ a 9 ft viewing distance is BIG. My only complaint so far is with Anynet, I had never used it before last week and it's terribly slow. Oh well, if that's my only problem I think everything will be just fine.

Amazing TV

I recently purchased this TV from Amazon and have been using it for about a week now. The picture is gorgeous out of my PC to the TV using a DVI to HDMI converter. Playing DVDs at 1080p is an amazing experience for me who is stepping up from a 27inch 720p set. There are loads of inputs to connect all your old equipment like a PS2 etc. You can send the audio out of the TV to your receiver using a single optical cable and this makes the clutter much less behind the receiver. The auto highlighting of the active inputs present on the TV makes it easy to know if the equipment you have connected is working or not.

The touch of color is an ok feature..just makes the TV look good and most of the times you need good lighting behind the TV to actually see the red color on the edges.

Is 120Hz worth it? Well right now it is not for the extra 200-300$ per set. I was thinking of getting the Sony Bravia with 120HZ but when I viewed the screen between these two i could not tell the difference.

Films and games mostly are shot/produced at 24-30 frames/sec...since this set has twice the sampling 60hz you should expect a pretty smooth frame rate and should not have any motion lag. 120hz samples at 4 times and will make it look even smoother..but you would need a giant screen to note the difference. at this size it is marginal so save your money and go with this Gem from Samsung.

This is not the top of line Samsung but more than does the job. I installed this with the Samsung motorized mount and it looks great. I especially like the fact that the mount communicates with the TV remote. This is my third Samsung HD TV and I think they lead the industry on several fronts.

Great TV

I upgraded from a 10+ year old 27" TV to this Samsung, so it is not surprising that I love the new set. I am viewing FiOS TV via HDMI, 480p DVD's and Wii via component cables. I am not a videophile, but it all looks great to me. With the default settings, the blacks are plenty black and the colors appear quite natural. And after watching some NBA playoff games, I have no regrets over passing on the 120Hz model. The sound is fine for most viewing and plenty loud, but I recommend at least a pair of external speakers for effects-heavy movies and music performance programming.

The remote is easy to use and you can switch input sources with the press of a button. A single button cycles through the zoom and stretch modes which I use frequently when watching SD programming to eliminate the black bars. The TV's menu system is easy to navigate and has more options than I need. The one adjustment I did make was to reduce the brightness of the backlight (there is also an energy saving setting that does the same thing).

Setup was quick. Although there were instructions for assembling the stand, it came pre-assembled. It required 2 people to lift and guide the TV on to the stand, and 4 screws were required to secure the stand to the TV. When first powered on, the TV asks a few questions and then you are ready to go.

Product delivered on time and as promised. Samsung is a good value for the price.
Loved the "no shipping and no sales tax". Would definitely purchase future electronics thru Amazon.
